The Empty Homes Network
Supporting Local Authorities and practitioners in their empty homes work, Adam has led the Empty Homes Network as Secretary and Policy Lead since 2019. With over 14 years of experience as an empty homes officer, Adam is a leading voice in the field of empty homes whose recent work has involved providing policy recommendations to the Local Government Association, working directly with local authorities on an advisory basis, and developing training courses for new and experienced new officers. A strong advocate of enabling local authorities to possess the tools to do more empty homes work, Adam’s passion and drive to highlight the issue and its effects nationally has seen the Network go from strength to strength in recent years. Graduating with a degree in Property Development and Architectural Design, Adam’s third year Thesis entitled ‘Empty Homes Under the Hammer’ focused on the abilities of local and central government to take action on the issue of empty homes.

Muhammad Uddin previously worked in housing for 17 years within the Social Housing and Private Sector Hosting. His most recent experience was with a local authority in Leicestershire, where he worked as an Empty Homes Officer, with a proven track record of successfully bringing 196 empty properties back into use.
Muhammad has experience dealing with all empty homes related issues within the private sector, working in partnership with home owners, carrying out property inspections for housing standards, HHSRS property inspections, and offering grants and property maintenance advice to property owners. Muhammad also managed acquisition with annual budget of £10m used to purchase empty properties and properties on the market in dealing with the Housing shortage councils are facing.
