How did you get into probate genealogy?
I’ve always been interested in my own family tree and used to love watching Heir Hunters. When I was at university my MA thesis involved drawing up over 300 small family trees. When I graduated, I was keen to keep researching and probate genealogy seemed perfect!
What does a normal day look like for you?
My normal day consists of researching, talking to beneficiaries and helping to finalise cases.
What is your most memorable case to date?
My most memorable case to date would probably be solving a case that had been on the BV list for over 10 years – I managed to find a record to show the deceased had changed her name and she had family in the USA.
What do you love most about working at Finders?
I love the research aspect of the job the most, I like when research is difficult and requires out of the box thinking!
Away from genealogy, if you could do any other job in the world, what would you do and why? Dream big!
I would love to be a Historian. I’d love to be able to give lectures and write about women’s history in the late nineteenth century.
